Role Description

The Field Service & Integration Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based at the cellumation Inc. HQ in The Woodlands, TX. This role focuses on the technical enablement, commissioning, and ongoing support of our modular, intelligent conveyor systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering hands-on technical training to integrators and partners, debugging smart controller units using Linux, diagnosing industrial network architectures, and performing electrical troubleshooting on-site. The role collaborates closely with customers’ PLC programmers and network engineers to align system interfaces, while also managing field operations, sensor calibrations, and preventative maintenance. By resolving complex on-site issues and documenting service tickets, the Field Service & Integration Engineer ensures high system uptime and a seamless handoff to customer operations.

Your Tasks

  • Technical Training & Customer Enablement: Deliver professional technical training sessions (on-site and online) to integrators, partners, and customer teams. Manage the on-site handoff, guiding customers through system go-live phases, troubleshooting, and advising on system optimization and spare parts.
  • IT-Systems, Linux & Networking: Use Linux CLI tools to debug smart modular controller units, inspect logs, and perform software updates. Diagnose TCP/IP networks (subnets, IP assignments, routing) and collaborate with customer PLC programmers to align interfaces (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET) and troubleshoot software handshakes.
  • Electrical Diagnostics & Field Operations: Perform low-voltage electrical diagnostics (24VDC), control cabinet troubleshooting, and wiring verification. Provide field support for installations, mechanical validation, sensor calibrations, and preventive maintenance.
  • Service Documentation: Manage service tickets and document all site activities, troubleshooting steps, and technical resolutions in the customer service tracking system.

Your Profile

  • Professional Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in industrial automation, field service, or mechatronics system integration.
  • Linux & IT-Systems Expertise: Confident using Linux CLI environments to check configuration files, inspect logs, and deploy software components. Proven competency in network diagnostics (TCP/IP, routing, subnets) and industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP or PROFINET).
  • Electrical & PLC Skills: Practical understanding of low-voltage electrical systems (24VDC), with the ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and conduct hardware fault analysis. Experience interfacing with PLC systems is a strong plus.
  • Core Competencies & Drive:

    • A proactive self-starter eager to shape scalable service processes within an expanding technology scale-up.
    • Structured, analytical problem-solving skills combined with a flexible, customer-oriented mindset.
  • Location & Mobility: Based near or willing to work in a hybrid model out of the cellumation Inc. headquarters in The Woodlands, TX, with the readiness to travel regularly within the U.S. (~50%) and travel to Germany 1–2 times a year for training.
