The material flow system of the future
A modern material flow system in intralogistics does not have to be a complex large plant, but intelligent. In order to transport products or goods, the space required for these systems has increased more and more in recent years because the requirements for the conveyed goods and their position, orientation and sorting have become greater – at the same time, the volumes to be transported have grown considerably. It is time for an update of conventional material handling systems.
What makes a good material handling system?
Material flow systems are indispensable in a production or logistics environment. They are at the heart of moving a large number of products, materials and other objects in large quantities. This often involves not only moving them from A to B, but also aligning them accordingly, sorting them, turning them, discharging them and more. Many different processes can play a role in this.
The systems can become very complex depending on the desired flow of movement. This has the disadvantage that they can take up a lot of space. Different tracks that perform different functions, such as rotating or corner conversion, contribute significantly to this.
Good systems offer various solutions for these applications, they meet complex requirements and are considerably more space-saving than systems that require long distances to perform a specific action with the conveyed material.
The future could look like this
Where in the past many different conveyor lines had to be set up just for certain actions, such as diverting or rotating, there are now space-saving alternatives. Many different manufacturers have risen to the challenge. There are now also systems that can perform several actions on one conveyor line, such as diverting and rotating.
What are the advantages of innovative systems ?
New modern and innovative material handling systems are usually slimmer in design and can handle layouts differently than before. The best example is the cv. GO, which can be used as a corner turner, diverter, rotator and more for packages, or the cv.DEPAL, which separates and aligns layers on <3 square meters. Innovations like these can make a material flow much more efficient, faster and cheaper. Especially in the tightest of spaces. This is made possible by a symbiosis of robust hardware combined with intelligent software. Modern material flow systems are already thought of digitally in the design.
Retrofitting modular systems
Another advantage of modern intelligent systems is that they can be integrated. It is therefore possible to integrate them into existing material flow systems. Due to the control by means of common interfaces and communication systems (digital I/O’s, Profinet and Co.) the modular structure, they can often be integrated relatively easily into existing systems. This means that even old conveyor systems can be brought up to date without having to replace them completely. This makes these systems so attractive and also sustainable at the same time, as they can take over another application/function in an existing material flow system at any time.
In intralogistics, this has considerable added value.
Our products in application
In our product range there are several options to massively optimize processes in intralogistics.
With our cv.BULKSORT it is possible to sort chaotic arriving packages on less than 8 m². With the cv.DEPAL it is possible to separate layers efficiently and automatically. With the cv.GO we rely on an all-rounder that can be used as corner turner, ace sorter and more.
