Functions and technical data

Which conveying functions can the celluveyor perform?

The celluveyor is multifunctional and can have (almost) any functionality you need in your material flow system. The celluveyor can, among others:

  • easily centre & align objects
  • be a sorter: whether Inline Sorter, Intersection Sorter or simply a replacement for a Pusher – everything is possible
  • support applications with direct interaction with staff such as picking
  • be a sequencer that organizes objects into the right order
  • perform the layer formation for automatic palletizing systems
  • perform the layer singulation for automatic depalletizing systems
  • …of course the celluveyor can also just transport goods straight ahead – but that would bore our system a bit…

and much more – as long as it concerns movements on one level, almost everything is possible! Please send us an e-mail with the description of your application and we will contact you!

What is the maximum size of the celluveyor?

Only your imagination is the limit… our modular principle with identical cells and our intelligent control system allows us to scale to large sizes without any problems. The largest system we currently produce for a customer has dimensions of 12m x 2m. But this is just the beginning…

What is the weight of a celluveyor system?

One cell has an approximate weight of 2.5 kg. Depending on the cell size used, the following values provide a good estimate of the total weight of the celluveyor system:

What is the minimum construction height of the celluveyor?

For the installation of our cells we need a minimum height of 300mm.

Objects and materials

Which objects can be transported and positioned with the celluveyor?

We love it flat & bigger than 150 mm x 150 mm! Cartons – great!  Boxes – great! Plastic totes (KLTs) – great! Other objects with flat undersurface – great! A smaller unevenness is no problem either, as long as most of the surface is flat. Do you find your object described correctly with these attributes? Then there is a good reason to use the celluveyor! Which objects exactly can be transported? The list is growing every day: boxes, crates, KLTs, tyres, steel …please contact us if your object is not listed here – we are very interested in testing it and extending the list!

Which materials can be transported with the celluveyor? I have an extraordinary material - can the celluveyor handle it?

We love it flat and stable! But we can also handle nearly flat objects, objects with cutouts, relatively stable rubber elements, plastic totes (KLTs) with a slightly ribbed base, steel parts etc. Just send us a description of the material and ideally a picture of your object and we will give you a feedback if the celluveyor can handle this material.

I have an object that is smaller than the minimum size of goods conveyable by the celluveyor, can I still move it with the celluveyor?

A very clear “maybe”! If the object is rectangular and both sides are less than 150 mm long the answer is “no” – at the moment we have no possibility to move these objects directly on the celluveyor. In case only one side is less than 150 mm long and the other side is significantly longer than 150 mm, your object might be transportable. Please contact us!

My objects do not have a flat undersurface - can I still move them with the celluveyor?

That all depends…again a clear “maybe”! Plastic totes (KLTs) with a slightly ribbed base are no problem, shipping bags or luggage on the other hand are a problem… Just send us a picture and a description and we will give you a quick feedback!

My objects are very heavy, can the celluveyor handle them?

Yes! The load capacity of the celluveyor is up to 1.8 t/m². So the weight of your objects does not worry us at all.

Can the celluveyor transport pallets?

If the pallet is transported on a tray, as it is very often the case in the USA, we can move the pallet without any problems. Unfortunately, the celluveyor is currently not able to transport pallets directly placed on top of it.

And what about bags? Can the celluveyor transport them?

We can often move sacks. How well this works depends on the material of the bags. Please send us pictures for a quick check. Afterwards we will be happy to do tests with the real bags.

Applications and products

Is the celluveyor still in its test phase or already in active everyday operation at companies?

Since 2019 several celluveyor systems are successfully in operation at industrial customers’ facilities. We have successfully outgrown our childhood and have been able to prove our marketability. Now we are ready to revolutionize the world of material flow!

Is it possible to change or add layer patterns for the layer formation (celluveyor PAL) and the layer singulation (celluveyor DEPAL) even after the commissioning?

Sure! Flexibility also means being able to continuously add and change the layer patterns. This is no problem at all for the celluveyor.

Cooperation with system integrators and end users

I am an end user and want to purchase a celluveyor. How can I do this?

The celluveyor is part of a material flow system and has to be integrated into it – therefore you can buy the celluveyor from the system integrator of your choice.

If you have an application where the celluveyor should be used for research purposes, please contact us directly.

I am a system integrator and would like to get more information about the celluveyor or already have interesting applications. What is the best way to get in contact?

You are welcome to contact us directly. We are available at +49 421 331135 0 or info@cellumation.com.

Distribution and delivery

Where can I buy the celluveyor?

The celluveyor is part of a material flow system and has to be integrated into it – therefore you can buy the celluveyor from the system integrator you choice. If you are a system integrator and would like to sell the celluveyor to your customers, please contact us.

If you have an application where the celluveyor should be used for research purposes, please contact us directly.

Can I buy single cells and program them myself?

Cell and software functionality are like Yin & Yang, like Bremen & the Bremen Town Musicians and like cellumation & the Hexagon – simply inseparable! Therefore we always deliver the cells as a complete package including software. But just ask, the functionality you are looking for is certainly no problem for the celluveyor and we will deliver your personal dream team of hardware and software!

How much does one m² of celluveyor cost?

Unfortunately neither we nor the system integrator of your choice can give you a clear answer to this question. The price of the celluveyor always consists of a combination of hardware and software and depends on the size of the system, the complexity of the task to be performed and the type of objects to be transported.

Which information do you need to send me an offer?

Please contact us with your specific application (functionality, size and type of objects to be transported, throughput, possibly required positioning accuracy, possibly fixed size of the system you are looking for) and we will get back to you with an offer. We only sell to system integrators – if you are an end customer, we are unfortunately unable to provide you with an offer. In this case, please ask your system integrator for an offer – or write us and we will contact the system integrator of your choice.

Integration and configuration

How does the integration into my material flow and IT system work?

The celluveyor can be operated in two modes: these include a “Plug&Play” and a “Stand-Alone” solution.

In most cases the celluveyor simply integrates as a “Plug&Play” solution into the superior material flow system. The superior system communicates with the celluveyor via a common interface (TCP/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, etc…) with simple instructions, which are then independently translated into complex movements by the celluveyor. Complex programming work in the PLC of your material handling system is not necessary. Your system communicates the task, the celluveyor solves it independently and takes over the execution of the entire motion logic of the objects.

If you want to use the celluveyor as part of a stand-alone solution, we deliver a finished and ready-to-go system that can be operated without external input or signals. No data exchange between the celluveyor and a superior material flow system or other IT systems is necessary.

Which program is used to program the celluveyor?

Forget the word programming! You don’t need to worry about that – you will get a completely programmed system that you control with simple instructions via a common interface (I/Os, TCP/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, etc…). Small configurations can be done in a user-friendly GUI, which is similar to a smartphone app and requires no programming skills.

Can I still adjust the functionality after commissioning?

No problem! We know that flexibility is one of the most valuable assets in today’s world and we are prepared for it. With a simple software update you can adjust the functionality of the celluveyor even after commissioning (e.g. add new pallet formats for a palletizing application or additional outputs for a sorter) or even change it completely if desired (e.g. turn a no longer used celluveyor PAL into a sequencer or even several sorters). Your system requirements change, we easily change with you – and at low cost, because you can simply continue to use the cells.

Maintenance and safety

Which safety requirements does the celluveyor meet?

The celluveyor is such a tame tiger that it does not need a cage, unlike other common material flow systems. The wheels are each driven by small motors that can even be stopped individually with a finger. The celluveyor naturally complies with all applicable EU standards and directives and is delivered with a CE declaration of conformity.

Can the celluveyor be cleaned?

The celluveyor is designed for industrial environments and can of course be cleaned. You can use air pressure, you can also clean it with a damp cloth – but if you still want to continue having fun with your celluveyor, you should not use the high pressure washer for that…

What happens if a cell is defective?

If one cell should actually fail, it will be reported as defective by the neighbouring cells and you will receive an error message. In most cases, the defective cell is bypassed automatically until it is replaced. Of course, it depends on the specific position of the cell how much a defective cell influences the functionality of the whole system. The broken cell can be replaced by your staff within minutes – you do not need external maintenance personnel for this.

How does the replacement of a cell work? Do I need specialized personnel?

Three words: quick and easy! And no, you don’t need specialized personnel to do it. The celluveyor has to be stopped and switched off – 7 screws are loosened – the cables are plugged out of the defective cell and plugged into the spare part cell – 7 screws are tightened – the celluveyor is switched on – the spare part cell automatically detects its position and the system is 100% operational again within minutes.

What is the life expectancy of a celluveyor?

The celluveyor easily keeps up with the life expectancy of your complete system. Our cell consists of standard electromechanical components. Due to the fact that only the specific motors and wheels required for a special movement are activated at each moment, the running time of the individual cells is significantly shorter than the running time of the celluveyor and we achieve a long lifetime.
